Co-ops on tour: Homebaked

On Saturday we had a visit from the members of Homebaked, a community land trust and co-operative bakery situated on the boundary between the neighbourhoods of Everton and Anfield, just opposite the Liverpool Football Club. Their project is co-owned and co-produced by people who live and work in the area.

Being a co-op means adhering to the co-operative values and principles, one such principle is co-operation among co-operatives. It’s important to us that we help other co-operatives to thrive and we too have benefited from the advice and guidance from a number of other co-ops.

Back to Homebaked, not only has the team set up a successful community-run business and now plan to regenerate the whole high street to benefit their community. Benefits would include employment opportunities, housing, fantastic food outlets and accessible community spaces.

We were delighted to have them visit us at Village Greens and it was wonderful to learn about their inspirational project and aspirations. I have no doubt they’ll turn all of their ideas into reality and certainly hope to pay them a visit soon.

Thank you Homebaked for your visit!
