Me again and this week is all about volunteers. It’s Volunteers’ Week! and during these times Village Greens is even more reliant on the fabulous team of volunteers to make sure the shop can still run as normal and be able to offer additional delivery services.

You might have read in Karen’s previous blog about some of the changes which have been implemented at the shop. One of these being the launch of an online fruit and veg box ordering and delivery service. None of this could have happened without the help of our volunteers, starting with the Board who looked at how we could adapt in the current circumstances, the volunteers who added the shop onto the website and the team of drivers who help out delivering fruit and veg boxes and other shopping to the local customers.

So here’s a massive thank you to you all! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

As the lockdown measures are lifted slightly and many of our suppliers are getting back up and running we need to call on volunteers again to help some of the food deliveries. On Fridays, the team will be supporting with deliveries from Black Cat Cakery and Lily’s Vegetarian Cuisine. Have a read of this previous blog to see how all this works (of course now collections will be socially distant) and what delights might await you in the shop on a Friday lunchtime. Cake and curry. 😋

We’re also meeting other volunteers as we try to help those in need. We’ve donated produce to Bolton Mutual Aid recently so they can use it to prepare food for people in the local community. Here’s Alan loading his van. Read more about how Bolton Mutual Aid are helping here
